Find Empathy, owned and operated by Empathie, LLC, is committed to conducting all educational activities in strict conformance with the law and the requirements and standards of the American Psychological Association (APA), the Association of Social Work Boards’ (ASWB) Approved Continuing Education (ACE) program, and the National Board for Certified Counselors (NBCC). Find Empathy adheres to the ethical standards in the APA, ASWB, and NBCC.

Empathie, LLC will comply with all legal and ethical responsibilities to be non-discriminatory in promotional activities, program content, and the treatment of program participants. Compliance with these standards is the responsibility of Find Empathy’s Program Administrator, Mr. Damon Wyatt, in consultation with Dr. Meghan Beier (Continuing Education Director and Education Committee Chair) and the Empathy Education Committee.

Scope

This policy applies to all participants in Find Empathy continuing education courses, including psychologists, social workers, counselors, and other mental health professionals. Grievances within the scope of this policy include, but are not limited to, complaints regarding:

    1. Course content, including accuracy, relevance, or appropriateness for the participant’s profession
    2. Instructors, speakers, or content experts
    3. Course delivery, format, or technology
    4. Promotional materials and accuracy of advertised CE credit
    5. Non-receipt of certificates of completion
    6. Refund requests
    7. Accessibility accommodations
    8. Any concern related to discrimination or ethical conduct

Routine administrative requests (such as password resets, name corrections on certificates, or general questions about course access) are not considered grievances under this policy and are handled through standard customer service channels.

Grievance Policies, Procedures and Refunds

While Empathie, LLC goes to great lengths to assure fair treatment for all participants and to anticipate problems, there may be occasional issues and grievances submitted to the Empathy Education Committee staff that require intervention or action on the part of the Committee or the Continuing Education Director. The following procedures apply to handling such grievances:

    1. All grievances regarding refund requests, complaints about course content, speakers, facilities, and other concerns must be provided in writing. Should an individual call with an orally presented grievance, Find Empathy will request that the concerns be provided in written format by emailing info@findempathy.com or by completing the grievance form on the Find Empathy website (findempathy.com/grievance).
    2. Written concerns will be reviewed by the Empathy Education Committee Chair, or, if the complaint involves the Chair, by an alternate Education Committee member. A psychologist member of the Education Committee will be involved in the review and resolution of grievances submitted by psychologists and counselors. The Social Work Consultant, Marita Pyankov, MSS, LCSW, will be involved in the review and resolution of grievances submitted by social workers. Written comments will be de-identified to ensure confidentiality of the grieved individual.
    3. Grievance submissions will be acknowledged within 5 business days of receipt, and Find Empathy will provide a substantive response or resolution within a reasonable timeframe based on the complexity of the grievance.
    4. If immediate resolution is not possible, the Chair, alternate, or other specific Education Committee member reviewing the grievance (psychologist or Social Work Consultant, based on the profession of the individual submitting the grievance) will determine whether the complaint requires full review by the Empathy Education Committee. In such cases, the complaint will be reviewed by the Committee to assess whether changes are needed in terms of content, format, style, certificate delivery, instructor/speaker selection, or any other aspect of the CE program.
    5. Find Empathy will respond to all grievances in a timely, fair, and ethical manner.

Refund Policy

Downloadable transcript PDFs, audio files, and the Find Empathy podcast are all free to access. Payment is required only for CE credits. Generally, individual courses will not be refunded. This also applies to individuals who do not complete bundled courses, do not complete individual courses, and individuals who do not achieve a passing grade on post-tests.

However, Find Empathy is committed to providing high-quality education. As stated above, any request for a refund must be submitted in accordance with the grievance procedure described in this policy.
