Why do you focus on medical conditions?

Dr. Beier, our founder, was trained as a health psychologist, and then received additional training in neuropsychology and rehabilitation psychology. In her roles as a clinician, speaker, and researcher she continually heard from patients, families, advocacy groups, and medical specialists how challenging it was to find specialized mental health providers. Mental health professionals who “got it” – who understood a particular diagnosis. So Find Empathy was created to help bring down this barrier. We create convenient and quality continuing education to increase the capacity of mental health providers to support individuals with serious medical diagnoses, chronic illness, and disability.

What CE organizations have approved Find Empathy to provide continuing education?

Find Empathy, or Empathie, LLC, has been approved to provide continuing education by ASWB, NBCC, and APA. Please review each course to ensure it meets the requirements of your particular CE approval organization. The information provided on our site is a general guide. Approvals or state guidelines may change before we can update the website. It is recommended that you contact your board to ensure our continuing education meets your state or organization’s requirements.

Do you provide CE for NEW YORK mental health professionals?

Unfortunately, we are not currently approved to provide continuing education for New York mental health professionals. How do I find your therapist directory?

To find therapists that specialize in serious medical conditions, chronic illness, or disability click on “For Patients” in the top bar and scroll to “Find a Therapist”. From there you can search by location or medical diagnosis.  If you didn’t find someone, keep checking back. We are regularly adding new providers.

I am a therapist, how can I join the free directory?

Find Empathy wants to help individuals with serious health conditions find someone who knows, understands, and has experience working with their medical diagnosis. Therefore we expect all providers on our listing to meet the following criteria:

  • Know the commonly used medications and/or medical interventions used to treat each medical condition
  • See at least 2-10 patients with this medical diagnosis in a given month
  • Feel confident enough in your knowledge of the condition, and its management, to be able to discuss a patient’s issues with her or his medical provider

If this sounds like you, click on “Get Listed” in the upper right hand corner of this page or click here for the Get Listed page.

Will my information be sold?

No. Find Empathy will not sell your information to anyone.
