Find Empathy’s founder, Dr. Meghan Beier, was trained as a health psychologist and then received additional training in neuropsychology and rehabilitation psychology. In her roles as a clinician, speaker, and researcher, Dr. Beier continually heard from patients, families, advocacy groups, and medical specialists how challenging it was to find specialized mental health providers. Mental health professionals who “got it” – who understood a particular diagnosis.

Find Empathy was created to help bring down this barrier. We offer convenient, high-quality continuing education to increase the capacity of mental health providers to support individuals with serious medical diagnoses, chronic illnesses, and disabilities.

Find Empathy, or Empathie, LLC, has been approved to provide continuing education by ASWB, NBCC, and APA. Please review each course to ensure it meets the requirements of your particular CE approval organization. The information provided on our site is a general guide. Approvals or state guidelines may change before we can update the Find Empathy website. It is recommended that you contact your board to ensure our continuing education meets your state or organization’s requirements.

Find Empathy is here to help individuals with serious health conditions find someone who knows, understands, and has experience working with their medical diagnosis. Therefore, we expect all providers on our listing to meet the following criteria:

  • Know the commonly used medications and/or medical interventions used to treat each medical condition
  • See at least 2-10 patients with this medical diagnosis in a given month
  • Feel confident enough in your knowledge of the condition, and its management, to be able to discuss a patient’s issues with their medical provider

If this sounds like you, sign up to join the free, online Find Empathy Directory. We’ll review your information, build your free listing, and send patients directly to you.

To find a mental health provider that specializes in serious medical conditions, chronic illnesses, or disabilities, click on For Patients in the top navigation bar and scroll to Find a Therapist. From there, you can search by location or medical diagnosis.

If you didn’t find a therapist for you, keep checking back. We are regularly adding new mental health providers.

No – Find Empathy will not sell your information to anyone.
